About me,
My name is Jose Contreras. I’m a 32-year-old Colombian coach with a lifelong connection to sports, movement, and personal growth.
I’ve been involved in sports from a very early age, competing in soccer, tennis, table tennis and swimming. My strongest competitive background is in table tennis, where I represented the Santander team and ranked #6 in Colombia in the Under-16 category. Sports taught me discipline, resilience, and how powerful consistency can be — lessons that still guide my coaching and life until today.
Before stepping into the fitness world as coach, I followed a different path. I studied Economics and International Finance and built a career in finance, working at the Colombian Securities Exchange as a fixed income analyst and later as a trader at Davivienda Bank. After a couple of years in the corporate world, I felt a growing pull toward something else , I would say more aligned with who I meant to be.
After COVID, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life: I left everything behind in Colombia and moved to Los Angeles. I’ve always been drawn to challenges, risk, and the unknown — so why not start the journey in LA?
I began coaching in Los Angeles in 2022 founding Hacking Performance, and since then I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible clients who allowed me to share my energy and knowledge growing alongside them. I truly believe that we are mirrors of each other — coaching is not just about teaching, but also about learning.
Today, I’m enjoying life as a coach and entrepreneur, building my personal projects while helping others become stronger, healthier, and more confident versions of themselves. Over the past two and a half years, I’ve also added Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to my wellness journey, and I absolutely love it. It has deepened my understanding of movement, mental toughness, flow state, mental clarity and more…— values I bring into every coaching relationship.
If you’re looking for a coach who understands discipline, change, and growth — both inside and outside the gym — I’d be happy to be part of your journey.
